sumo’s journey started at 15 with his first turntables, private parties and a deep love for club culture. By 17, he was already playing Stuttgart institutions like Schräglage and Barcode, before becoming part of 0711 and later 0711Talents. Since then, his path has taken him to HipHop Open, countless club and festival stages, VfB Stuttgart’s official DFB-Pokal celebration, and Porsche’s 75th anniversary at Hockenheimring with Paul Ripke.

Alongside DJing, sumo spent ten years as Head of Music at Klangerfinder, shaping music and sound for brands, exhibitions and cultural spaces. He has also released original productions and remixes on the legendary Berlin label Sonar Kollektiv.

For the 50th anniversary of Altstadtfest, sumo and d&b are creating a DJ set tailored for Soundscape. Before it hits the stage, you can join the production session in Backnang and hear one hour of house music — exclusively produced by sumo, mixed by Serge, and built for an immersive sound system.
